Course abstract

Water supply & sewerage engineering networks are with primary importance for each building where people are living, remain of any longer time or make economic activities. In course student should get knowledge about history and development of water supply and sewerage systems, content of these modern systems, problems of sewage utilization and solving of them as well, constructions of devices and working principles of them, required project documentation for realization.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - familiar with theoretical issues related to water supply and sewerage systems. Skills - are able to make the selection of water supply and sewerage system elements. Competence - is able to calculate, evaluate the consequences of possible incorrect operation of systems, is able to plan the sequence of system construction works, safety, perform quality control. Course work should be developed and evaluate in defense procedure in 10 points system.

4 Designing of internal water support network 2hr
5 Creating of calculating scheme for internal water support network 2hr
6 Hydraulic calculations 4hr
7 Comparing of necessary and accessible water network pressure 1hr
8 Designing of internal sewerage network 2hr
9 Choose of right pipe diameters in the internal sewerage network 1hr
10 Calculation of sewage flow, evaluation of it 2hr
11 Designing of forecourt sewerage network 1hr
12 Rules of sewage cleaning and utilization 1hr
13 Choose of sewage purification system content, designing of it 2hr
14 Specification of water supply and sewerage systems materials 1hr
15 Calculation of project estimated cost 1hr

Part-time extramural studies: All the topics intended for full-time studies are covered, yet the number of contact hours is ½ of the specified number of hours.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Course work should obtain successful rating - no less than 4 points in 10 points system.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Student should unaided complete course work, grounding on methodical presentations, normative and additional literature and consulting with course lector.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Course assessment will be:
10 (brilliant), if trainer don’t show any unmet requirement in course work;
9 (excellent), if there are minor errors and inaccuracies in course work
7 good), if there are minor errors and inaccuracies in course work
6 (almost good), if there should be made serious corrections in course work
5 (mediocre), if there should be made important corrections in course work
4 (almost mediocre), if there should be made essential corrections in course work
3 and less (unsuccessful), in course work exist override of requirements of normative and significant errors
