Course abstract

The aim of the study course (study practice) is to strengthen theoretical knowledge and acquire practical skills in the use of geodetic instruments. Students understand the principles of creating a surveying justification, learn to measure angles, distances and determine point heights. Is able to perform the necessary measurement calculations and draw up the documentation of measurement results in accordance with the requirements. Is able to choose geodetic methodologies of geoinformation data and implement them. To be able to critically evaluate one's knowledge and skills, to be able to be responsible for the quality of one's work.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Knows the use of geodetic instruments in accordance with the specified accuracy requirements. Is able to choose the appropriate measurement technology. Knows the principles of testing geodetic instruments. Activities in study practice.
2. Knows the information collection processes about the existing geodetic network, is able to select and systematize the obtained information. Is able to inspect the geodetic network and its points, assess the condition. Is able to install new geodetic signs - activities in study practice.
3. Is able to independently plan and perform accurate geodetic measurements in the field, using angular, elevation, distance, GNSS and remote sensing methods - activities in study practice
4. Is able to perform mathematical processing of the obtained field measurements - equation, to evaluate the accuracy of the obtained results and compliance with the set requirements. Is able to draw up documentation of realized measurement reports - activities in study practice

Course Content(Calendar)

Full-time studies:
1. Evaluation and reconstruction of the existing geodetic support system, collection of information, survey of geodetic points, development of a reconstruction project for a given territory, installation of new geodetic signs. Application of unmanned aerial vehicle systems in the process of reconstruction of geodetic networks;
2. GNSS measurements, precise direction measurements, leveling. Processing of field measurements, accuracy evaluation, analysis of results. Preparation of 3D material for the given territory. Preparation of the final report.

Part-time studies:
All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented, but the number of contact hours is 1/2 of the specified number of hours

Requirements for awarding credit points

The student receives a credit if all practical assignments have been completed; practice review prepared and practice defended.
Defense of study practice:
- Test of practical skills for working with geodetic and remote sensing instruments;
- Students present the logical course of the study practice, discussions about the obtained results

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Students complete the study practice as a group, implementing the practice tasks in accordance with the program, and prepare documents for the study practice report.
After preparing the study practice report and submitting it to the supervisor, the practice group takes the final test.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

In order to complete the study practice, the student must participate in the practice every day, develop all the planned works and defend the study practice. The evaluation of the study practice depends on the results of the practical skills test and the presentation of the results obtained during the study practice and their evaluation.
