Course abstract

Course project examines forest machine choice and principled mechanism for load calculations. The acquired knowledge allows you to select the forest machines and calculations forest machinery.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After studying the course, the student will have:
• Knowledge of the calculation of the loads of machines used in logging.(course project)
• Skills for visual and technical assessment of forest techniques, aggregating capabilities,(course project)
• Competencies - responsible for advising forest workers on the feasibility and calculation of logging machines in the specific development of felling areas.(course project)

Course Content(Calendar)

The individual assignment of the course project is issued by the lecturer. The lecturer also introduces the requirements for the course project.
Acquaintance with the technical characteristics of the tractor prototype is carried out by the student independently. Next, the following calculations are made:
1. Sizes characterizing forest machines, stability contours.
2. The choice of felling - felling machines depending on the logging conditions.
3. Selection of hauling - trailing machines depending on logging conditions.
4. Calculation of labor productivity for equipment used in the forest.
5. Determination of critical indicators of stability of logging machines.
6. Calculation of moments of force when aggregating a transport unit with a hydromanipulator.
7. Calculation of forest trailer loads.
8. Calculation of traction force in forest works.
9. Calculation of the static loads of the timber cargo lifting mechanism.
10. Assessment of dynamic loads when manipulating round timbers.
11. Stability and durability of logging machines in forest operations.
12. Assessment of the resistance of a metal rod to pressure in forest works.
13. Torsion and bending strength of saw blade axes, calculation of gear pulleys.
14. Possibilities of repair of connection of various elements of forest equipment: fixed and detachable connections.
15. Selection of bolt and groove connection.
16. Designing and submitting the course project.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The course project must be designed in full and evaluated with a note.
